Jay Leno's Legacy

Having grown up watching Johnny Carson, I cannot help feeling sick at what NBC is doing to the Tonight Show right now. Jay Leno should think through his actions carefully. Does he really want this mess to be his legacy? Does he want to be remembered as the Tonight Show host who would not go away? I can't imagine that his ratings could pop back after this scenario plays out. Who on earth would want to replace him the next time he retires? 

Newly Homeless Middle Class

Very, very sad. I saw this report on CNN last weekend and totally understand how a string of bad luck and unfortunate circumstances could combine to put a formerly middle class working woman on the street. Barbara Harvey seems to be as normal as I am, but she's 67-years-old, still working, and living with her dogs in a car which she parks nightly in one of 12 "homeless" Santa Barbara parking lots. Thing is, she put on a pretty brave face for all she's up against, with a fairly optimistic attitude. Unfortunately, the comments beneath the article illustrate the insensitivity and stupidity of many readers. Hopefully people will wake up, stop being so self-centered and help out their family members, friends and neighbors in any way they can so that people can get through this rough period with a little comfort and dignity.
